Talking about masks with kids
parent's guide
School is right around the corner and sending kids into the physical classroom will become a reality. You or someone you know might be worried, confused or skeptical of sending your kid off to school without knowing how they will react to wearing a mask for a full school day. As a parent or someone who helps with kids, you want to best prepare them to feel comfortable with their every day new “normal”.
How to talk about it:
-
Stay calm
-
Explain in detail (kids understand more than you think!)
-
Allow for any/all questions
-
Let your kid(s) feel emotions
-
Use simple words that they will understand
-
Give it time, it won’t be a one and done, but make the conversation a normality in your household
-
BE SUPPORTIVE!
