Mask Facts is a group of students, majoring in Textiles and Apparel (TAPP) at the University of Northern Iowa. With a background in Textile Science, Computer Aided Design, Pattern Making, and Construction, we are committed to giving research-based recommendations on non-medical face masks.

Cassie Hendrix,
Graphic Design and Marketing
Cassie is a senior at the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Textiles & Apparel and Marketing Advertising. She is one of the Web Development Interns for Masks for The Frontlines Iowa, creating graphics and marketing materials. Cassie loves the apparel industry as well as marketing, so she said this is the perfect mix for her to use her passions to help others.
Malena Silva is a senior at the University of Northern Iowa. Malena is majoring in Textile and Apparel with a certificate in Sustainability. During the pandemic, Malena has been sewing masks for local nurses and food production workers. Her work with Mask Facts includes textile research for face masks and working out fit issues for specialty face masks, such as people with hearing aids.
Melina is a senior at the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Textiles and Apparel. She is a Web Design intern with Masks for the Frontlines Iowa, working on website design, infographics, and brand development. Melina is passionate about human rights, design, and inclusive fashion.
